Honest furniture for happy homes
I'm a Roswell woodworker who spent 20-plus years in healthcare and software while building furniture on the side. Eventually, I turned that passion into Hickory Handyworks. Today I design and build custom furniture, cabinetry, and built-ins for homes in Roswell and East Cobb, treating every project with the same care I'd give my own home.
Finishes
Painted Pieces:
For painted kitchen cabinets and furniture, I use Gallery Series™ Waterborne Topcoat or Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
Non-painted Pieces
For natural wood pieces, I prefer a hard wax oil finish made from natural oils and waxes, such as Osmo Polyx-Oil. The oil soaks into the wood to protect it from within, while the wax adds a durable surface layer against moisture and wear. The result is a soft satin finish that's hardwearing, resistant to spills, and easy to maintain.
Care tips: Avoid placing hot cups or bowls directly on the wood, and wipe up spills promptly.
